Salka
Classes (Rewritten August 16, 2010)
What: I returned from my most recent trip to Peru in March (2010) with a renewed sense of astonishment at just how simple and beautiful this approach can be and with a strong desire to share more of this with my culture. I have decided to start offering classes again on Andean mysticism. In these classes I will be focussing on teaching about 'Salka', the Andean term for 'undomesticated energy'. Salka is the energy that flows through all the Cosmos but that is particularly easy to connect to in Nature. Increasing the flow of Salka in our lives is very simple and very beneficial, to ourselves, our society, and our planet...and it feels beautiful. In the beginning class I will talk a little about my studies in Peru and I will introduce a few basic concepts (such as 'Salka' and 'ayni') but we will spend most of our time in simple meditations for connecting to Salka in Nature and in each other. It is the sort of thing you can easily do on your own once you know what to do but we will also take advantage of being together to do some particularly powerful Salka meditations that can only be done in partnership with other people. You don't need any previous experience in Andean mysticism, you do need to be ok with physical contact with others (for example...standing back to back with someone) and to not think it is (too) crazy to connect your energy to the Pachamama (the great mother who is the planet earth) or the Apus (the great beings who are the majestic mountain peaks), etc. Cost: Donations, while not required, are welcome and would be congruent with the fundamental Andean concept of ayni (reciprocity). 50% of all donations will be given to the people of the Andes as ayni for sharing all of this with our culture with such open and generous hearts. If you do choose to give a donation you can either bring some money to the class or go to the Donate Page here on the SalkaWind site and pay with a credit card. There is a little bonus to bringing the dontation to the class, as we end with a simple but nice ceremony for giving and accepting the donation. Where: We will meet at the mouth of Millcreek Canyon (Salt Lake City) and then head to a place where we can be with Nature. If you are interested then email me to reserve a spot in the class, and I will give more info (for example...exactly where to meet, what to bring) as the time approaches. If you would like to attend or if you have questions please contact me at info@SalkaWind.com. Scheduled Classes: Thursday, July 1,
2010. 7:00 pm. Beginning class.
These classes went very well indeed. My thanks to all the good
people
with good hearts who attended. I have decided to advertise to a
wider audience and offer more beginning classes. The class
sizes need to be small, but if there is room you may attend both classes.Tuesday, July 6, 2010. 7:00 pm. Beginning class. Thursday July 8, 2010. 7:00 pm. Beginning class. Tuesday, August 24,
2010. 6:30 pm.
Beginning class. Wow, those classes went well, particularly
Thursday's. I am offering two more beginning classes. Those
who wanted to attend one of the prior classes but couldn't were given
first priority (I sent them out an email a week ago). Now that
they have had a chance to select a class I am openning what spots are
left to whomever would like to attend.Thursday, August 26, 2010. 6:30 pm. Beginning class. Tuesday, Sept. 7,
